Learning through play: the secret to smarter kids
Hello, fellow moms
You know how a child can turn an ordinary cardboard box into the most amazing princess palace or spacecraft? That's the power of play.
As a stay at home mom, I have seen the effects of nurturing creativity through play whilst keeping my little ones entertained. Creative play has also fuelled their imagination and analytical skills.
Craft days
We have special “craft days'' where we’ve created underwater worlds and enchanted forests with nothing but coloured paper, glue and glitter. Sure, things may get a bit messy, but each glittery speck on the rug is indeed worth the fun.
Research has shown that children who engage in play-based learning demonstrate a 20% increase in cognitive development; including improvements in language skills, problem-solving abilities, and social interactions. At the end of the day, play learning is about nurturing experiences, fuelling creativity, mindfulness and connection.
So, dive into the chaos, laugh, enjoy yourself and remember- playtime is fun!
At home play learning activity : shape sorting.
1. Collect various objects
2. Categorise them by shapes
3. Discuss their characteristics
4. Bonus? It’s an enjoyable way to teach about shapes while creatively connecting with your little ones.
